Mission Statement

The Optometric Society is a "member-centric" organization that is dedicated to serving and representing its members. An elected board of directors has the responsibility to act on behalf of the membership.  TOS is completely funded by membership dues, not insurance companies, big corporations, or government entities.  Therefore, we answer to our membership.   Collectively, we work together to find solutions to the many challenges facing us. Our mission is to:

  • Provide an open platform for members to share ideas and voice concerns.
  • Monitor, protect, and improve the interests of optometrists and and our profession on the local, state, and national level.
  • Improve the quality and accessibility of optometric care available to the public through our public service campaign
  • Promote competence and excellency in optometry
  • Support student interests through a mentorship program and free TOS membership.
